Constitutional Gay Marriage Bans Go Into Effect Amendments to the Constitutions of Arkansas, Oregon and Ohio to ban same-sex marriage went into effect today. In Oregon, the constitutional ban on gay marriage took effect on Thursday as the Oregon Supreme Court awaited final briefs from lawyers to determine whether nearly 3,000 marriage licenses issued to same-sex couples are valid.
