Constitutional Gay Marriage Bans Go Into Effect
Amendments to the Constitutions of Arkansas, Oregon and Ohio to ban same-sex marriage went into effect today. In Oregon, the constitutional ban on gay marriage took effect on Thursday as the Oregon Supreme Court awaited final briefs from lawyers to determine whether nearly 3,000 marriage licenses issued to same-sex couples are valid.

Ohio Governor Signs Anti-Gay Marriage Ban
Ohio Governor Bob Taft Friday signed what is being called the nation's most repressive gay legislation. The new law not only bans same-sex marriage, but also forbids the state from recognizing gay marriages, civil unions or domestic partner agreements legalized outside the state and makes it declares it illegal to provide state benefits to gay couples.

Ohio Gay Couples Ban Goes To Gov.
The Ohio House this afternoon passed what is regarded as the toughest anti-gay marriage law in the country. It bans gay marriage; forbids the state from recognizing same-sex marriages, civil unions or domestic partner agreements legalized outside the state; and makes it impossible to provide state benefits to gay couples.
